Arbor Place, Inc. Celebrates a New Beginning

Release Date

Since 1976, Arbor Place, Inc. has served the residents of Menomonie and neighboring communities.  This week, they celebrated the beginning of a new era, opening the doors to their new treatment facility located in the Stout Technology Park. The new center allows for expanded services and up-grades that will better serve those needing their services in the area.

The new facility is a total replacement facility for Arbor Place, Inc., a substance abuse treatment and prevention clinic located in Menomonie, Wis.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development awarded Arbor Place, Inc. a $5.2 million, low interest, direct loan through the Community Facilities Program.

The newly constructed center has enabled Arbor Place, Inc. to expand their services, which includes increasing the number of in-patient beds, increasing the number of outpatient counselors and adding new psychiatry services.   In addition to the 32 inpatient treatment beds, there is community meeting space for Alcoholics Anonymous /Narcotics Anonymous meetings and other events and outdoor activity space for clinic residents. The new facility allows patients a greater sense of confidentiality due to the new location and separate areas for inpatient and outpatient services. This project also includes a remodel of the existing clinic where Arbor Place, Inc. will house their administrative services and rent excess space to a local non-profit that offers complimentary services. Work will begin there in in late August.

“This project is an excellent example of the federal government working in collaboration and partnership with the local community to help improve critical health services and the quality of life for people in west central Wisconsin,” said USDA Rural Development Wisconsin State Director, Stan Gruszynski. “It is so important that leaders in rural communities continually look for ways to improve the essential services that are offered in their community. Rural Development financing and support play an important role in making these types of projects a reality.”

The previous facility only had 16 resident treatment beds and provided outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment and prevention services, and was located in a residential area. Originally a half-way house, the clinic had three major renovations through-out the years to allow Arbor Place to expand services, and they reached a point were additions to the facility are no longer possible due to limited space of their location.

For the past 37 years, Arbor Place, Inc. has been providing vital services to the community and region. The mission of Arbor Place, Inc. is to provide prevention, treatment, renewal, and recovery opportunities to individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance abuse & dependence and mental health disorders.

Each year more than 100 rural communities in Wisconsin receive assistance from USDA Rural Development for community-improvement and public-safety projects.

USDA Rural Development’s mission is to deliver programs in a way that will support increasing economic opportunity and improve the quality of life of rural residents. As the lead federal agency for rural development needs, USDA Rural Development returned over $571 million dollars this past year to rural Wisconsin communities. Funds are used to finance and foster growth in homeownership, business development, and critical community and technological infrastructures.
