USDA Rural Development is accepting Distance Learning and Telemedicine grant applications.

Rural Utilities Service is looking for pioneering telecommunications projects to harness the potential of advanced technologies and connect rural areas with essential medical and educational services.  Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) grants range between $50,000 and $500,000 and are awarded through a competitive progress administered at the national level.  Grant applications and further details on the DLT program can be found on the USDA Rural Development website.

Who may apply?

Eligible applicants include most entities that provide education or health care through telecommunications, including:

  • Most State and local governments

  • Non-profits

  • For-profit business

  • Consortia of eligible entities

How may funds be used?

  • Acquisition of eligible capital assets

  • Acquisition of instructional programming that is a capital asset

  • Acquisition of technical assistance and instruction for using eligible equipment
