On Friday September 18, 2015 Rural Development participated in the Ground Breaking Ceremony of Posada Rincón Ojo de Agua (inns at the plaza). "Posadas en la Plaza Program" promotes the creation of high end lodging facilities in the traditional town districts.
This project has an estimated cost of $1,520,363 (initial phase) and received a Rural Business Enterprise Grant (Now RBDG) of $350,000. It is expected to create 60 jobs during the construction stage.
Hotel plans include a 16 room facility with around 14,652 sf of construction with light food (tapas) bar, terraces, roof terrace and space for concessions.
Through projects like these, USDA Rural Development aims to help create self-sustaining alternatives for economic development and downtowns revitalization, thus stimulating new tourism routes where the best of the island resources are displayed.
