USDA Rural Development State Director Maxine Moul today presented a plaque to Donna Rut, Village Clerk, for her excellence in performance.

“I am pleased to honor the clerk who serves the villages of Daykin, Alexandria, Tobias, Western, and Swanton in meeting the needs of the villages, some of which are through Rural Development programs.  Thank you for your dedicated service,” said Moul.

Daykin received a USDA grant for a siren project that included a new siren, pole, and electrical lines.  Alexandria received a USDA loan and grant for a wastewater project to build a new lagoon for the town. Tobias, through USDA, completed a water project.  Western utilized USDA loan and grant funds for a water project that included a new well, new water tower, meters, and pipes.  Swanton and Western may be looking into Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households (SEARCH) Grants.

“The Lincoln Area Nebraska USDA staff nominated Donna for the award because she assisted three of her five villages through Rural Development loans, applications, or project completion.  She is very attentive to information needed.  Her annual reporting information is current and accurate,” said Community Programs Specialists Janice Stopak and Luann Brown.
