USDA Rural Development announces its funding of $11,500 to the Village of Ulysses to make upgrades that will air condition the village auditorium. Leveraged with USDA funds is $12,500 raised from donations by many individuals and businesses as well as fundraisers by the Ulysses recreation committee.
“Raising money for such an expensive project is daunting for those of us in a small town but with the help from the USDA Rural Development we were able to accomplish our goal. I am not sure we would have been able to do this without their help,” said Rita Shipley, Village of Ulysses.
“By adding new air conditioning and updating the heating, the auditorium will now have a fully functioning system,” said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist, Luann Brown. “The new system removes the need for planning events with the temperature in mind in order to assure the comfort of the guests. Ulysses will now be able to enjoy full facility utilization and plan events throughout the year.
