USDA Rural Development Area Director Faye McEwen today joined Lewisburg Mayor Jim Bingham at a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of a new community pavilion at Rock Creek Park.

“This is an important project made possible by the community working together and combining federal, state, and local resources to improve the quality of life of not only the citizens of Lewisburg, but all who visit here,” McEwen said.

As recipient of a $20,000 USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant, the City of Lewisburg is joining with the Rotary Club and local industry to construct a 20’ x 50’ open-air pavilion adding another facility to Rock Creek Park.  Residents and community groups use Rock Creek Park, and its current pavilion, for various events frequently during the year.  The new pavilion will be extremely beneficial during many major festivals and events held at the Park.

Others participating in the event include Representative for Congressman Scott DesJarlais Becky Moon, State Representative Bill Spivey, Lewisburg City Council members Steve Thomas, Artie Allen, Bam Haislip, Nicholas Tipper, Rotary Club President Amy Irvin, South Central Tennessee Development District Community Development Specialist Lisa Cross, and USDA RD Area Specialists Doug Shelton and Beverly Peterson.
