Texas State Director Edd Hargett

In November 2017, the Trump Administration appointed Edd Hargett as the Texas State Director of Rural Development for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.  As State Director, Edd will use his leadership experience to oversee Rural Development programs in a customer-focused manner to restore prosperity in rural Texas.

Mr. Hargett comes to Rural Development with 40 years of experience working for electric cooperatives; serving as general manager the last 25 years, 15 years at Houston County Electric Coop and most recently, 10 years at East Texas Electric Cooperative.  Edd also served as Regional Director for the Federal Emergency Management Agency from 1987-1990.

Edd is a native Texan and proud graduate of Linden Kildare High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in electrical engineering.  He was named All Southwest Conference quarterback at Texas A&M for 1967-68.  He and his wife, Shirley, currently reside in College Station, Texas, and have three children, Amy, Tedd, and Thadd, and eight grandchildren.
