USDA Rural Development Grant Funding Available to Help with Community-Improvements Projects in Rural Iowa

USDA Rural Development has additional grant funding available this year to assist rural Iowa communities with their community-improvement projects.

These USDA Rural Development Community Facilities grant funds can be used to help finance essential building and equipment for public use in communities with a population of 20,000 or less.

Funds are competitively awarded through an application process and are available to public bodies, non-profit originations and federally recognized Indian tribes.

Grant funds may be used to purchase first responder vehicles and equipment such as fire, police and medical emergency vehicles, emergency generators, warning sirens, snow plows; health facilities and equipment such as surgical equipment, cardiac monitors, ultrasounds; educational facilities such as school buses, library equipment, childcare facilities; and public facilities such as maintenance equipment, streets, etc.

USDA Rural Development currently has $3.5 million in Community Facility Grant funds available statewide.

More information about USDA Rural Development and the Community Facilities program can be found at www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/community-facilities-direct-loan-grant-program/ia

Please contact the local USDA Rural Development Area Office servicing your county today to start the application process, or call (515) 284-4663.
