Stillwater, Oklahoma, April 24, 2018 USDA Rural Development has completed its 2017-2018 periodic review of all areas under its jurisdiction to identify areas that no longer qualify as rural for USDA Rural Housing programs.  Based on the review of the areas within the state of Oklahoma, using the 2015 American Community Survey data, and rural area guidance located in Handbook HB-1-3550, Chapter 5, the rural eligibility designation has changed for the following areas:

Oklahoma

1) Ardmore, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

2) Bartlesville, OK-no change

3) Bixby, OK-no change

4) Broken Arrow, OK-no change

5) Choctaw, OK-no change

6) Claremore, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

7) Duncan, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

8) El Reno, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

9) Enid, OK-no change

10) Glenpool, OK-will become an ineligible area because they are no longer rural in character due

to population

11) Guthrie, OK-no change

12) Lawton, OK-no change

13) Muskogee, OK-no change

14) Oklahoma City, OK-no change

15) Owasso, OK-will become an ineligible area because they are no longer rural in character due to

population

16) Ponca City, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

17) Sand Springs, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

18) Sapulpa, OK-city limits will be revised to reflect current corporate city limits

19) Shawnee, OK-no change

The changes will become effective on June 4, 2018.  Areas that are no longer considered rural or rural in character and that will not be eligible for the USDA Rural Housing Programs can be viewed at https://eligibility.sc.egov.usda.gov/eligibility/welcomeAction.do by clicking on either "Single Family Housing Guaranteed", "Single Family Housing Direct" or Multi-Family Housing" and then selecting "Proposed Ineligible Areas" tab.
