U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and Oklahoma State Director Kenneth Corn announced today more than $278,000 in grant to the College of the Muscogee Nation to improve the quality of on campus life for students. Funding is a part of the Biden-Harris Investing in America Agenda to reinvest in critical needs like education for Rural America.
This project will support on campus dining improvements to help foster a thriving campus community at the College of the Muscogee Nation.
“President Biden and Vice President Harris continue to make a committed effort to invest in our Native American communities and improve their health and educational outcomes,” Corn said. “For far too long, we have left funding in education just too short, and thankfully through the Biden-Harris Administration we are correcting that mistake and investing in the next generation of Americans like the students at the College of the Muscogee Nation.”
The Department is awarding the grant through 1994 Land Grant Institutions (Tribal Colleges), which can be used to improve quality of life and educational outcomes for their students.
“I am thankful that this award is being made to the College of the Muscogee Nation, as the university administration makes it a priority to cultivate a tradition of Vrakkueckv (Respect) with their students and staff,” Corn said. “The President and Vice President not only have been champions of raising the quality of education across our nation but also in recognizing our Tribal Nations and supporting their efforts to preserve Tribal culture and traditions in the classroom.”
