USDA Rural Development announces that the City of Crawford, Nebraska is the recipient of a Predevelopment Planning Grant (PPG) of $30,000 that will assess the needs of the City’s storm drainage. The City will provide $12,000.
“This grant will provide Crawford the opportunity, not only to make an informed decision about correcting various drainage issues, but to accurately inventory streets and properties and reestablish boundaries that have been blurred or "lost" through encroachment and non-planned adaptive uses by both municipal and private entities. This survey will be utilized in completing the city's 2016 ten year comprehensive plan which is a significant step to revitalize Crawford and to move forward,” said Mayor of Crawford, David Nixon.
“Rural Development funds will be used to assist the City of Crawford make an informed decision about its storm drainage needs via the development of a Preliminary Engineering Report,” said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist, Natalie Furrow. “The planning approach will clearly describe the city’s current situation, and document specific current and future infrastructure needs. Computer assisted scenarios will be developed to analyze drainage areas and environmental impacts. Alternatives and recommended upgrades will be provided to address existing and future drainage.”
Water & Waste Disposal Predevelopment Planning Grants (PPG) assist income eligible communities with initial planning and development of an application for USDA Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal direct loan/grant and loan guarantee programs.
