The Village of Gilead will receive sewer improvements thanks to USDA Rural Development funding of $15,700 leveraged with a Community Development Block Grant of $18,915 from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
“The Village of Gilead greatly appreciates the funding from the USDA Rural Development and the Community Development Block Grant which will make possible, the purchase of the land needed to complete our sewer improvement project. With this purchase, the Village of Gilead will be compliant with the regulations for lagoons,” said Board Chairperson Lyle Keilwitz, Village of Gilead.
“In order to meet Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality regulations, the Village’s existing lagoon, which no longer would hold water, needed to be sealed and expanded to make it a complete retention system,” said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Specialist, Janice Stopak.
The project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Water & Waste Disposal Grant program. Visit: http://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/water-waste-disposal-loan-grant-program/ne.
