Grant Assists Town of Centerville with Purchase of New Patrol Vehicle

Name
Kathy Smith
City
Centerville
Release Date

Centerville Mayor Gary Jacobs and USDA Rural Development Lawrenceburg Area Director Faye McEwen announced USDA funding that will assist with the purchase of a new patrol vehicle for the city’s police department at the Centerville City Hall.

"This grant will help us replace an aging patrol car which will enable us to better serve the citizens of our town,” Jacobs said. “The USDA funds allowed us to replace a vehicle in our aging fleet ahead of our schedule, which will reduce the maintenance cost of our police vehicles."

The Town of Centerville received a USDA Community Facilities grant of $14,700, in addition to funds provided by the town, to purchase a new patrol vehicle for the town’s police department. Patrol vehicles quickly accumulate mileage and significant aging due to the nature of the work. With the purchase of a new vehicle with reliable service, the police department will continue to operate efficiently.

USDA RD’s Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. Eligible borrowers include public bodies, community-based non-profit corporations and federally-recognized Tribes.

Others participating in the event include Centerville Police Chief Shannon Irwin, USDA RD Area Specialist Doug Shelton, USDA RD Area Specialist Josh Wilkerson and USDA RD Area Technician Debbie Gilchrist.
