USDA Rural Development has awarded the Lexington Health Services $15 million leveraged with the applicant’s $4.9 million and a Great Western Bank Loan of $5 million.
Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack noted that funding announcements for these type of projects are another reminder of the importance of USDA programs for rural America. A comprehensive new Food, Farm and Jobs Bill would further expand the rural economy. He said that's just one reason why Congress must get a comprehensive Food, Farm and Jobs Bill done as soon as possible.
Funds will be used to construct a surgery addition with three operating rooms, a post anesthesia care unit, patient prep and recovery rooms. Also included are two endoscopy rooms and other surgical support areas along with staff support spaces.
An Outpatient Clinic will house fourteen exam rooms, two general procedure rooms, a room dedicated to wound care, a treadmill room to support weekly visiting, mobile nuclear medicines services, and other areas dedicated to patient support, the business center, exterior entrances and to house mechanical systems.
Funds will also be used for the renovation of patient rooms, interior space, the dietary area, business center, and lobby and gift shop along with new/replacement/upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems.
“Rural health care is an ongoing concern with USDA Rural Development. Having close medical services offered to those who cannot commute many miles is a necessity to not only them but to Lexington locals also,” said Community Programs Specialist Roberta Mues, USDA Rural Development.
The hospital project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Community Facilities Direct Loan program. For more information contact Robert Mues at 308-237-3118 ext.1128.
