Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul Celebrates Distance Learning Funding to ESU 8 in Neligh

USDA Rural Development Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul visited Educational Service Unit 8 in Neligh today to present a plaque for being awarded $287,442  to further their distance learning capabilities.

ESU #8 will utilize the distance learning funds to update distance learning equipment and connect 30 schools in Northeast Nebraska to Northeast Community College. Students will be able to get advance placement classes, dual credit courses and job skills training.

“It is essential to expand distance learning so as to expand education to our students,” said Moul. “It is with great pleasure Rural Development is able to assist in the ESU’s distance learning efforts.”

“ESU #8 is honored and humbled by the $287,443 matching grant.  This will be a benefit to all districts involved and Northeast Community College,” said Administrator of ESU 8 Bill Mowinkel.  “We applaud the efforts of Molly Aschoff and Mary Gurney in the preparation and submission of this successful grant application.” Mowinkel continued, “Thanks goes out to USDA Rural Development in recognizing the need to extend and expand educational opportunities to rural Northeast Nebraska.”
