United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Colorado Rural Development State Director Sallie Clark announced the award of a $101,990 grant to the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCOG).
The Housing Preservation Grant Program provides grants to sponsoring organizations for the repair or rehabilitation of housing owned or occupied by low- and very-low-income rural citizens. The NWCOG will use the funds to help provide health and safety improvement including replacing windows with doors to provide egress entrances per code specifications to 32 affordable multi-family housing units in developments in Eagle, Grand, Jackson, Pitkin, and Summit counties.
"This grant will allow families and seniors living in our multi-family housing complexes to have the peace of mind and remain in a safe, decent place they call home,” said Sallie Clark, USDA Rural Development Colorado State Director.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
