Palisade Rural Fire District Breaks Ground for New Fire Barn

Ground was broken in Palisade, Nebraska today for the  construction of a new fire barn.  Funding was provided by USDA Rural Development through a loan of $665,000, leveraged with $75,000 from the Palisade Rural Fire District.

 “We are glad to get to this point in the project.  It has been a number of years in the planning,” said Tom Monnahan, Secretary Treasurer of the Rural Fire Department..

 The fire barn will be approximately 8,000 square feet.  The construction is a pre-engineered metal building with a reinforced concrete safe room.   The fire barn will be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act..

 “USDA Rural Development is pleased to assist Palisade in its efforts to bring greater safety to Palisade area residents,” said Community Program Specialist Natalie Furrow.
