Harrisburg, PA., July 20, 2020 – The Trump Administration announced today that USDA Rural Development is providing a $272,828 Rural Business Development Grant to Workforce Wayne Inc. to develop a technology based training program along with developing an internship program for Wayne and Pike County small businesses in the hospitality industry which have been impacted by COVID-19. Workforce Wayne Inc. will address present conditions in the Hospitality Industry which were impacted by COVID-19 through implementation of a year-round career pathway program which will place interns into the industry and support local small businesses in the hospitality industry by supplying them with a trained workforce.  

Trump Administration Official & Pennsylvania State Director Curt Coccodrilli is please to announce that Rural Development is investing funds in Workforce Wayne to help grow and train the workforce in Wayne and Pike Counties. “I am proud to announce this critical funding to one of the areas most affected by COVID-19. Investments like this are paramount to the goals of President Trump set fourth in his Task Force on Agriculture and Rural Prosperity. This will help educate and train the hardworking job seekers of Wayne and Pike County. It is truly an honor to give back to communities and help those seeking family sustaining jobs throughout this spectacular region.  

Secondly the project will address job growth in the region by developing higher skilled workers for higher paying technology jobs. Workforce Wayne will accomplish this through technology-based training programs which will seek to provide courses which provide high tech skills leading to a certification, potential college credit, and local employment. The development of these training programs will be in partnership with the Stourbridge project and the local PA CareerLink Office. 

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
