The United States Department of Agriculture has provided the Perry County Economic Development Authority with a grant to establish a business and tourism center. This funding comes from the Rural Development agency of the USDA.
“Rural Development is proud to provide grant funding for wide-reaching projects such as The Perry County Economic Development Authority,” said Rural Development State Director Tom Williams. “This funding will provide Perry County with opportunities to create new businesses, strengthen existing businesses, and support tourism activities throughout the county.”
The funding for the project comes from a USDA Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) in the amount of $50,000. The funds will be used to establish a county-wide tourism initiative to benefit the businesses of Perry County. This project includes the creation of a county visitors’ center and related promotional activities. This project will increase visitor activity in the county and will help promote the upcoming Perry County bicentennial.
USDA Rural Development offers numerous business programs to qualified applicants, including Rural Business Enterprise Grants, Rural Energy for America Grants, and Business & Industry Loan Guarantees.
