The annual Rewriting the Rural Narrative workshop will be held on Wednesday, August 9th. The one-day event to be held in Bismarck is open for the public to attend.
The day will focus on three areas: (1) the changing North Dakota demographics and the opportunities and challenges for regions; (2) sharing ideas for building local champions to sustain communities and (3) learning about what makes a community livable. Kendra Erickson-Dockter with NDSU Center for Social Research will start the workshop by giving an overview of the state’s population data. The workshop will also include a presentation on local foods, an introduction to the livable community strategy, a panel of community members highlighting successful economic ideas, and several ignite presenters, who will take five minutes each to inform on community resources.
USDA Rural Development and NDSU Extension will host the event at the Bismarck Event Center from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost to attend is $30 per person, which includes lunch. To register, please visit http://bit.ly/2uju1hG.
