Dan Barry, Author and Columnist for the New York Times will be in attendance at the upcoming 2017 Civil Rights Conference. USDA Rural Development Multi Family Housing Director Paul Bartlett, Single Family Housing Specialist Krista Mettscher as well as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Department Omaha Field Office Director Earl Redrick will be amongst the presenters at the conference. The 2017 Civil Rights Conference will be held on April 25th at the Innovation Campus, 2021 Transformation Drive, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with adjournment at 4:00 p.m. Many sponsors made this convention happen as to address a common need amongst various agencies.
USDA Rural Development is committed to helping improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. Through Rural Development programs, rural Americans are helped in many ways:
• Offers loans, grants and loan guarantees to support essential services such as housing, economic development, health care, first responder services and equipment, and water, electric and communications infrastructure.
• Promotes economic development by supporting loans to businesses through banks, credit unions and community-managed lending pools.
• Provides technical assistance and information to help agricultural producers and cooperatives get started and improve the effectiveness of their operations.
• Assist with technical assistance to help communities undertake community empowerment programs. Helps rural residents buy or rent safe, affordable housing and make health and safety repairs to their homes.
