Name

Release Date

Take Your Child to Work Day is a national holiday that allows kids to join their parents into work to learn more about what they do on a day-to-day basis. Rural Development is proud to observe this day on April 27th, 2017, and the State Office in Harrisburg has created a full slate of educational activities for the young sons and daughters following their parents into the office.

“It has been a great day for both the children and their parents at USDA, Rural Development,” said Acting State Director Trudy Moore. “As employees, we are proud of the work we do each day and happy to be able to share that with our children.”

In addition to a series of activities involving sidewalk chalk and math-centric card games, the children will also be involved in a “marketing campaign” art project for Rural Development, where they will be tasked with drawing a picture that represents their dream job, the results of which will be featured on RD Pennsylvania’s Twitter page (@RD_Pennsylvania). Also on the agenda is a special visit from an officer of the local Swatara Township Police Department, where the kids will learn about policing activities and serving the public.

Rural Development is committed to the future of rural communities, as well as the future of our sons and daughters. Rural Development is happy to participate in initiatives that promote cultural transformation and a better, happier workplace. For more information on these initiatives visit www.rd.usda.gov/pa.
