Missouri Rural Development State Director Janie Dunning will complete her career at 12:00 Noon on Friday January 20, 2017.
“While I am saddened by my departure from Rural Development, I am grateful for a career of 49 years spent serving Missouri rural communities and residents. During my career, and my tenure as State Director, we have been able to increase the vitality and vibrancy of rural Missouri,” stated Ms. Dunning. “Our mission is ‘To increase economic opportunity and improve the quality of life for all rural Americans’. Through amazing partnerships, outstanding staff and wide-ranging programs, our agency has come a long way to fulfill our mission, although there is more to do. I am leaving Missouri’s rural areas in the capable and amazing hands of Rural Development staff who will continue to deliver programs with compassion and competence. I wish all our rural communities and residents the best for the future.”
Ms. Dunning served as State Director from 2009 through 2016. Over these eight years, Rural Development has produced significant results. During this period, in excess of $8.5 billion in tax payer dollars was reinvested in Missouri. These dollars translated into 813 businesses and agricultural producers creating and retaining jobs and making products; 1,216 agencies, communities, districts, institutions and organizations providing services, training or educating, offering meals or clothing and protecting lives and 46,597 families and individuals sleeping in a warm and safe home.
Upon Ms. Dunning’s departure, Mr. Tim Rickabaugh, Assistant to the State Director, will become Acting State Director. Mr. Rickabaugh will continue in this capacity until a permanent State Director is appointed.
