Looks to advocate for continued investment in rural infrastructure and housing
MORGANTOWN, Feb. 28, 2024 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development West Virginia State Director Ryan Thorn will join a select group of rural leaders from West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee at the White House tomorrow, Feb. 29, to discuss ongoing infrastructure investments and critical needs of rural Appalachia.
Thorn plans to highlight recent success stories in West Virginia as part of the long road towards upgrading the infrastructure needs of West Virginia’s communities.
“At Rural Development we are advocates for, investors in, and partners to rural communities and the people, businesses, non-profits, and local governments that make up these communities,” Thorn said. “The $1.1 billion USDA Rural Development invested in West Virginia over the last three years is a testament of that commitment and President Biden’s focus of strengthening infrastructure and community capacity in underserved rural communities across America.”
Thorn’s talking points tomorrow will highlight Rural Development’s investments in basic infrastructure, community facilities, single-family home ownership, supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, and the success of Rural Partners Network in West Virginia.
