The Nevada Industry Excellence (NVIE) has scheduled a workshop in southern Nevada to share information about energy audits and the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) with small rural businesses and agricultural producers.

The first workshop is Feb. 1, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Mesquite, Nevada.

NIE will be performing energy audits for between 11-15 eligible rural small businesses and agricultural producers. Participants must pay 25% of the cost of the energy audit. Energy audits are available throughout Nevada for agricultural producers; rural small businesses located in areas with populations less than 50,000 are also eligible.

REAP Energy Efficiency Improvement grants and guaranteed loans are available to complete energy efficiency improvements demonstrated by the energy audits. Common energy efficiency improvements include new lighting, new heating and air systems, and new and improved irrigation pumps. USDA's REAP grant can pay up to 25% of the total cost for an energy efficiency improvement project.
