Investment to Help Reduce Energy Costs

STILLWATER, OKLA., October 7, 2020 – The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $18,434 to assist an ag producer and a business make energy upgrades in rural Oklahoma through the Rural Energy for America Program.

“We know that times are challenging, and we welcome the opportunity to invest in our rural businesses and agriculture producers. With this funding, these businesses can lower their energy costs and use that savings to grow their business and create jobs,” said Dr. Lee Denney USDA Rural Development Oklahoma State Director. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural Oklahoma in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”

The two rural projects being funded through the Rural Energy for America Program in Oklahoma include:

• Denmar Enterprises will use a $12,136 grant to purchase and install a solar array at their wheat farm.

• Discount Steel LLC will use a $6,298 grant to purchase and install a lighting system upgrade.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
