NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 15, 2020 - The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $250,000 to help more than 800 participants in ten rural Tennessee communities fight substance misuse.
“We are pleased to partner with the Knoxville Leadership Foundation, in an effort to implement support services to those who battle with substance misuse,” said Jim Tracy. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural Tennessee in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”
In rural Tennessee, Knoxville Leadership Foundation will use a $250,000 grant to implement the Capacity Building to Fight Substance Misuse in east Tennessee. This project will focus on ten rural communities over two years. Knoxville Leadership Foundation will strengthen the ability of recipients to understand and address substance use disorder and rising issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to addressing capacity-building areas such as leadership, program development, sustainability, and community engagement.
