Investment to Help 5,116 with Purchase of Rescue Equipment
SCUFFLETON, N.C.—October 8, 2020 – The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $31 thousand to purchase a rescue boat and other lifesaving equipment in rural North Carolina.
"The first responders in rural North Carolina have a unique mission and they need the equipment successfully accomplish their work," said USDA Rural State Director Robert Hosford. "Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural North Carolina in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives."
In rural North Carolina, Scuffleton will use a $31 thousand grant to purchase a rescue boat and other lifesaving equipment for the fire department.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
