Investment to Help Improve Public Safety for More Than 1,000 Rural Missourians

HUMANSVILLE, MO, Oct. 30, 2020 – The Trump Administration, along with Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development State Director for Missouri Jeff Case, today announced that the USDA is investing $35,675 to modernize equipment for city of Humansville first responders.

“Adequate, reliable emergency services are vital to rural communities,” said Trump Administration Official State Director Case.  “USDA Rural Development is pleased to partner with small rural communities, like Humansville, to ensure their first responders have the modern equipment and transportation needed to keep them safe and rural Missourians secure.  Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural Missouri in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”

The city of Humansville is using a $35,675 Community Facilities Economic Impact Initiative Grant towards the purchase of essential equipment for the city’s police and fire departments; the purchases are in the process of being made.  A patrol vehicle will replace a high mileage vehicle with frequent maintenance issues and body vests will ensure all law enforcement personnel are properly protected.  The fire department will replace antiquated gear with modern turn out gear for its firefighters. Ultimately, this equipment will allow the city to better provide public safety and emergency services to the more than 1,000 residents that call Humansville home.

More than 100 types of projects are eligible for Community Facilities funding.  Eligible applicants include municipalities, public bodies, nonprofit organizations, and federally recognized Native American tribes.  Projects must be in eligible rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less.  Grant applications will be accepted on a continual basis until funds are exhausted.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
