NASHVILLE, Tenn., Oct. 20, 2020 - The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $60,000 to administer training and business development in rural Tennessee.

"What an opportunity we have to bring resources to west Tennessee businesses that will create new jobs and provide support to the area through ag innovation and ag business," said Jim Tracy. "Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural Tennessee in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives."

In rural west Tennessee, AgLaunch Initiative will use a $60,000 Rural Business Development Grant to administer training and business development in two rural communities. The project is aimed at assisting start-up companies with the resources necessary to grow an agricultural business. The ultimate goal of the project is to provide the participating businesses with the support necessary to create jobs and fund innovative opportunities in rural Ripley and Savannah, Tenn.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
