The Trump Administration recently announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $894 million to improve 257 critical community facilities benefiting 3.5 million rural residents in 43 states, including a $775,000 project at the Ely Shoshone Tribe in White Pine County.

“Rural Nevada uses Community Facilities funding to renovate community centers, update kitchen equipment for senior centers, build fire departments and police substations, and enhance infrastructure like roads,” said USDA Rural Development Nevada State Director Phil Cowee. “This funding will help the Ely Shoshone Tribe to enhance access to housing, healthcare and administrative services.

“Under the leadership of President Trump, USDA continues to be a strong partner with rural communities, because we know that when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”

The Ely Shoshone Tribe was approved for a $775,000 Community Facility Direct Loan to construct about a quarter-mile paved road to meet the needs of the Tribe to provide alternate emergency access to existing Tribal facilities and housing within the area referred to as the 90-acre parcel. The route will connect the north end of the 90-acre parcel of the Ely Shoshone Reservation to U.S. Route 6, U.S. Route 50, and U.S. Route 93 on Ely's south side.
