NASHVILLE, Tenn., October 1, 2020 - The Trump Administration today announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing $91,400 to assist with housing repairs of low and very-low income families in rural Tennessee.
“Housing Preservation Grants help rural homeowners improve their properties to resolve health or safety issues, make accessibility modifications, or make energy-efficiency improvements,” said State Director Jim Tracy. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA has been working tirelessly to be a strong partner to rural Tennessee in building stronger and healthier communities, because we know when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”
In rural Tennessee, Appalachia Service will use a $91,400 grant to provide funds to 20 low and very-low income families in Hancock, Hawkins, Greene, Cocke, Unicoi, Carter, Johnson, Sullivan, and Washington counties.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
