USDA Rural Development Utah State Director Randy Parker today announced that USDA is investing $7.4 million into a Cache County school to help serve students in rural Utah.

“Access to education is access to an essential service,” Parker said. “Today’s investment in the Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Discovery will help the school secure their future, where they can continue to serve the growing young minds of their students and contribute to the prosperity of local families.”

The Center for Creativity, Innovation, and Discovery, a K-6 charter school in Providence, Utah, is receiving a $7.4 million loan to purchase their building and secure their opportunity to make improvements and potentially expand as demand for their service grows.

Under a nationwide announcement, USDA is funding $153 million for 94 projects in Alabama, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.

This project is funded through the Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. The investments can be used to build or upgrade schools, libraries, clinics and public safety facilities.

Interested parties should contact the Utah state office for information about additional funding, application procedures, and eligibility details. Also see the Community Facilities Direct Loan Program Guidance Book for Applicants (PDF, 669 KB.)
