MONTGOMERY, Ala., Dec. 16, 2020 – The Alabama State Director for USDA Rural Development, Chris Beeker III, today detailed USDA Rural Development’s investments in the prosperity of rural Alabama in 2020.  “The Trump Administration and the USDA invested over $1.5 billion in Alabama’s rural communities in 2020,” Beeker said. “These investments provided much-needed support to Alabama’s rural areas. The USDA responded urgently to help COVID-19 affected communities. We also worked to connect rural areas with the world via broadband internet, to help rural fire and police departments with lifesaving equipment, to bring improved and modern community facilities to rural Alabama, to help utilities provide safe water and wastewater services, and to assist businesses to provide essential services and jobs in our rural communities.
