Luis R. García-Boria, Rural Development Acting State Director for Puerto Rico, indicated that USDA accepting applications for Rural Broadband Access Loan and Loan Guarantee Program.

This Broadband Program provide loans and loans guarantees to provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement, or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide service at the broadband lending speed in eligible rural areas. This include the cost of leasing facilities to provide service.

Eligible applicants may be either a non-profit of for profit organization and must be one of the following:

  • Corporation
  • Limited liability company (LLC)

  • Cooperative or mutual organization

  • A state or local unit of government

Individuals and Partnerships are not eligible. Funds available for this application are $60 million, the minimum amount of the loan is $100,000.00 and the maximum is $20,000,000.00.
