USDA and City of Winnemucca Hold Wastewater 101 and Earth Day Celebration April 20; Formalize Funding Announcement

The City of Winnemucca will be building a new mechanical wastewater treatment plant outside of the Humboldt River floodplain.  Funding will be provided through loans and a grant through the Water and Environmental Programs (WEP) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Development.  The City will decommission its existing wastewater pond treatment system adjacent to the Humboldt River. This project will significantly enhance water quality in the Humboldt River and its watershed.  The project will ensure the City of Winnemucca is in compliance with the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection - Bureau of Water Pollution Control to protect the waters of the Humboldt River from the discharge of pollutants.

WHEN:          Wastewater 101 field trip 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. starting at Albert M. Lowry High.
