Kari Garringer, Site Manager at the Riverwood Village Apartments in Laughlin was recently honored by USDA Rural Development (USDA RD) as Nevada's 2014 Site Manager of the Year. Each year in every state, Rural Development acknowledges the contributions that site managers make to the success of Rural Development funded multi-family complexes.

USDA RD State Director Sarah Adler, who presented the award to Garringer during the agency's state training in Reno in mid-May, spoke about Garringer's outstanding work to support families and children who live at the Riverwood complex.

"Kari is an innovator who knows her property and takes extra steps to make Riverwood a community, not simply a place to live. She has been a leader within USDA's financed properties in partnering with the Colorado River Food Pantry to be a site for USDA's summer meals program. She has set an example for others to emulate. We appreciate and admire Kari's work greatly."

Site Managers make sure day-to-day operations go smoothly and often invest their own time to provide tenants with a safe and cohesive community. The nomination package submitted by Missi Pollender, Vice President of Weststates Property Management, included letters and pictures from current tenants, who said Kari goes "above and beyond" for residents with resources like self-help classes, the USDA Summer Food Program, and a month-long Resident Appreciation Challenge program.

In the letter nominating Garringer as Site Manager of the Year, Pollender also credited Kari and her team for their attention to detail.  "Kari and her team have done a terrific job in sustaining great curb appeal and caring for the amenities in the complex."
