U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Jason Allen today urged military veterans to make use of a special web site at USDA.
“We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those who have served our nation,” said Allen, himself a veteran of the Michigan Army National Guard. “This web site will help veterans locate resources within USDA.”
The site, www.usda.gov/veterans, focuses on the areas of employment, education, and entrepreneurship and each section offers information on veterans’ programs from the 17 agencies within the department.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; homeownership; community services such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
