The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development today commemorated the groundbreaking of the new wastewater treatment plant in East Jordan.
“USDA Rural Development is pleased to help with such a significant improvement to vital infrastructure in Charlevoix County,” said Acting State Director for Michigan Jason P. Church. “The new plant will eliminate seasonal issues and protect nearby waters.”
The agency provided a $1.6 million loan and a $3.4 million grant to support the project, which includes improvements at four lift stations, the construction of an additional lift station, enhanced filtration capability and a new control system equipped with alarm notifications.
