U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development Traverse City Area Office Director Michelle Collins today joined local officials to break ground for water and sewer improvements in Kalkaska.
“These upgrades will bring an ageing water and sewer system into compliance with state environmental standards and help safeguard public health,” said Collins.
USDA Rural Development provided $3,948,000 in loans to support the project, which includes improvements at three lift stations, upgrades to the force main, a new supervisory control and data acquisition system, and the replacement of more than 18,000 linear feet of ageing water main.
USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas.
