U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Michigan State Director Dom Restuccia celebrated a ribbon cutting for the renovation of the South Building of Glen Oaks Community College in St. Joseph County.

“Rural community colleges fill an essential role in giving future workers the education and skills necessary to ensure future prosperity,” said Restuccia. “Secretary Brooke Rollins and the Trump-Vance Administration understand how critical this is to improve the quality of life and energize the rural economy.”

USDA Rural Development provided a $7.7 million loan through the Community Facilities program to renovate the community college, which was built in 1969. The project features upgrades to the athletic department, including the gymnasium, locker rooms, film room, and offices, as well as instructional classrooms, laboratories, and the Nora Hagen Theatre. This marks the third partnership between the college and Rural Development since 2016 to support campus improvements.

Rural Development offers direct loans, loan guarantees and grants to develop or improve essential public services and facilities in communities across rural America.
