U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Brandon Fewins today celebrated the ribbon-cutting for the University of Michigan Health-Sparrow Rehabilitation Center Ionia.
“It is wonderful to see projects like this come to fruition,” said Fewins. “The way the Ionia community came together is truly inspiring.”
USDA Rural Development provided a $1 million grant to help finance the new outpatient rehabilitation facility, which increases available space from 1,400 square feet to more than 7,500. This permits more spacing between patients and increases the variety of treatments, including a new pain management clinic.
USDA touches the lives of all Americans each day in so many positive ways. In the Biden-Harris Administration, USDA is transforming America’s food system with a greater focus on more resilient local and regional food production, ensuring access to healthy and nutritious food in all communities, building new markets and streams of income for farmers and producers using climate, smart food and forestry practices, making historic investments in infrastructure and clean energy capabilities in rural America, and committing to equity across the Department by removing systemic barriers and building a workforce more representative of America.
