U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development today announced grant funding for an initiative that will boost small business development in Seminole County, Georgia. The Donalsonville Downtown Development Authority will receive $99,999 to develop and implement a Small Business Initiative which will provide small business training, a revolving loan fund and a small business retail business incubator. Funding comes from the Rural Business Development Grant (RBDG) program, which promotes the development of small and emerging businesses in rural areas.
“The revolving loan fund and associated technical assistance will foster an environment for economic growth and job creation,” said USDA Rural Development State Director Quinton Robinson.
Donalsonville City Mayor, Council, Chamber of Commerce and the Donalsonville Downtown Development Authority seek to attract new businesses in order to provide more local, affordable and convenient shopping choices while increasing a solid tax base. The grant will provide 2 part-time jobs and 1 occasional labor job to develop and implement the Initiative and it is estimated that 8 new small or micro businesses will be developed in the project’s first year.
