PORTLAND, Ore., Dec 12, 2024 — Residents of the City of Molalla will have good reason to raise a glass in celebration this holiday season. Margi Hoffmann, State Director for USDA Rural Development (USDA RD) in Oregon, recently announced a $35.25 million USDA RD investment that will allow the city to update its wastewater treatment facility.

On Dec. 10, USDA RD announced over $6.3 billion in rural infrastructure investments. These loans and grants will help rural communities improve access to renewable energy, a reliable energy grid, safe drinking water, and sanitary waste disposal. For the City of Molalla, this funding will help meet current and future needs for residents while protecting local groundwater and streams from potential pollutants.

“With this funding, the City of Molalla will perform much needed repairs and upgrades to their current wastewater system, allowing them to better serve local residents and to protect the land we share for generations to come,” said Hoffmann. “USDA Rural Development is committed to bringing clean, reliable drinking water to all rural Oregonians, from the coast to the frontier.”
