LANCASTER, Wis., Sept., 22, 2020 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wisconsin Rural Development State Director Frank Frassetto joined representatives of Wisconsin Management Co (WMC), Johnson Bank, Cinnaire, WHEDA and HUD at an Open House today to celebrate the newly renovated Sunrise Valley Apartments.

"It is often a challenge to find safe, affordable rental housing in our rural communities. WMC and Johnson Bank have been great partners with Sunrise Valley, utilizing resources to make the needed improvements to transform this complex,” Frassetto said. “Under the leadership of President Trump and Agriculture Secretary Perdue, USDA continues to be a strong partner with rural communities, because we know that when rural America thrives, all of America thrives.”

Through USDA’s Multi-Family Housing Program in collaboration with the above mentioned partners, Sunrise Valley Apartments received the funds needed to make extensive repairs and improvements to the aging complex originally funded by USDA Rural Development in 1974 to provide 103 units of elderly and family housing to residents. Renovations included exterior and interior of the buildings, common areas and units. This included new siding, windows, roofing, walkways and parking, new appliances, new kitchens, including cabinet countertops, flooring throughout the units, bathrooms, including tubs, sinks, vanities and toilets, doors and painting. All the units will be "like-new," improvements also expanded the Community Room and moved the Community Meal Site to a more accessible location. It also combined twelve one-bedroom units into six two-bedrooms, reducing the units from 112 to 102. All accessible units will be fully ADA compliant.
