The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Michigan State Director Dom Restuccia has closed a $6,960,000 loan for sewer system upgrades with the Village of Vicksburg in Kalamazoo County.

“This project has evolved since its initial obligation, and that is a testament to USDA’s flexibility to work with our rural partner communities,” said Restuccia. “It represents a long-term investment in the wastewater system, protecting groundwater quality for future generations to enjoy. This investment is a demonstration of President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to rural communities and the leadership of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins.”

USDA funding will help the village install a new sewer force main, repair existing sanitary sewer lines on Sprinkle Road with lining, upgrade the Spruce Street lift station and construct a biofiltration system at the intersection of Zylman Avenue and Sprinkle Road. These improvements will help provide safe and reliable sewer system infrastructure for more than 3,500 residents.

This project is funded through USDA Rural Development’s Water and Environmental Programs, which focus on rural water and waste infrastructure needs of communities with populations of 10,000 or less.
