U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner today presented a $55,000 grant to the City of Litchfield to support job training.
“USDA Rural Development works across the full spectrum of economic growth,” said Turner. “From investment and infrastructure to training and education, we are helping to improve the quality of life for rural Michigan residents.”
USDA Rural Development provided the funds through the Rural Business Development Grant program. The money will be used to help create a business support center at the Litchfield Regional Training Center. Additional funding has been provided by the State of Michigan’s Strategic Fund and the City of Litchfield.
Total project cost is $371,000.
USDA Rural Development State Director for Michigan James J. Turner was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2009. USDA, through its Rural Development mission area, has a portfolio of programs designed to improve the economic stability of rural communities, businesses, residents, farmers and ranchers and improve the quality of life in rural America. Under the Obama Administration, USDA Rural Development has invested more than $6.5 billion in Michigan projects.
