USDA Rural Development Area Director Joe Woody will join Foothills Community Development Corporation Executive Director Kelly Spears on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at 228 Heritage Crossing Drive in Maryville, Tenn., from 9:30 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. FCDC will be hosting an open house to highlight a subdivision being developed called Heritage Place. All are welcome to attend the event.
“I applaud the efforts of Foothills CDC to ensure affordable housing is available in Blount County,” Woody said. “Their marketing of Rural Development programs and mentoring potential applicants has led to Heritage Crossing becoming a reality. Dreams are being fulfilled as families and friends spend time together in their new home.”
As a non-profit organization, FCDC focuses on helping families realize the American dream of homeownership. FCDC provides high-quality, affordable homeownership opportunities for low and moderate income families and individuals through the development, construction and financing of new energy-efficient homes.
USDA RD’s Single Family Housing Direct Home Loan Program assists low and very low income applicants to obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance to increase an applicant’s repayment ability. At a minimum, applicants must have an adjusted income that is at or below the applicable low-income limit for the area where they wish to buy a house.
USDA Rural Development is moving investments to rural America with housing, business and infrastructure loans and grants to create jobs and strengthen rural economies with an emphasis to assist areas of persistent poverty. Since 2009, the agency has assisted more than $1.5 million Tennessee families and businesses in 230 communities in all 95 counties of Tennessee, investing more than $5.4 billion through affordable loans, loan guarantees and grants.
