Last week, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack awarded 26 grants to help rural small businesses and agricultural producers across rural America conserve energy and develop renewable energy systems. One grant of $77,602 went to the Nevada Governor's Office of Energy (GOE), to assist with public outreach on renewable energy.
The GOE will use the funds to establish a program to educate rural producers and businesses about the renewable energy technologies available to them and the resources necessary to retrofit their current energy sources with renewable technologies. Contact the GOE at (775) 687-1850 Ext. 7309 for more information.
In addition, USDA Rural Development Nevada offers Rural Energy for America Program grant applications year-round. REAP grants can help small rural businesses and agricultural producers to develop renewable energy and improve energy efficiency.
