CERRO GORDO, N.C., April 28, 2021 –Various federal and state officials joined U.S. Department of Agriculture North Carolina Rural Development in a groundbreaking ceremony at Cerro Gordo Elementary School today.
USDA is investing $16.5 million to construct an elementary school, which will consolidate three buildings into one.
The school will house 43 full-size classrooms for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade, with specialized classrooms for career studies, science, art, music, as well as self-contained areas for exceptional children.
“USDA is proud to invest in the education of this rural community,” said a representative from North Carolina USDA Rural Development. “As children return to the classroom they deserve to have the best environment and tools to give them the finest instruction.”
